  1. You need to go back to school as a post-bach for two years and get a teaching degree. You will have to take all the same courses as well as finish student teaching.

    Good luck.

  2. Your state may be in an emergency situation where you can get some kind of provisional certification.  You will need to take certification classes.  You state department of elementary and secondary education will answer your questions.

  3. It really depends on what you want to teach, for example if you want to teach secondary mathematics, you probably already have satisfied the upper college credit hours (24 or so). You can apply for a post-bach program where you will have to take several education courses, usually educational psychology, curriculum and instruction, diversity, reading, and special ed. You will have to have observation hours and complete a semester of unpaid student teaching. Take all required exams as well.

    Then theres the alternative route.

For a whole month you will learn, through engaging activities, the practical side of teaching. Its less theory and more of what you would need to know for a successful first year, from classroom and behavior management, student equity, reading and lesson planning. You will also have to complete state exams. Instead of doing an unpaid semester you will have to find a teaching job and intern for a school year. This means you will get paid as a teacher. However, you will have a probationary certificate which you will have to apply for after you get hired and complete the class. This is your internship with the program. Once you complete your year, you can then apply for a permanent certification.

If you have more questions email me.

  4. Either go back to school and get an education degree; student teach, etc.  OR  look into an alternative certification program. Access your state board of education to see lists of acceptable programs.
