I am 20, about 6' 1", In-shape, and am told pretty good looking by others, which i guess carries more weight than just my own opinion, which i suppose is bias...maybe. I have taken 2 semesters of acting classes at Cal Poly Pomona college, which is near Hollywood, CA. I was wondering if this is acceptable for a resume in the acting scene or If i need to take an acting class(not at college)? Also what is next? What are some good agencies? Where can i audition? And is this enough?

  1. try looking for auditions at this site: hollywood-opportunities(dotcom)

  2. Because you brought up looks - Do you also look good on camera? Many attractive people don't photograph well. Is your head larger than average or larger in proportion to your body? I'm not kidding, many actors have big heads, they photograph better for film. It's one thing a casting director notices.

How were you compared to your classmates, were you a step above? What did your instructor think? Your instructor should be able to give you information about your next step, since they know where you are at. They should also have some connection to agencies and can let you know if you're ready. You don't want to go to an agency until you're ready, they will remember and you may not get a second chance, so best to be prepared.

Have you looked into getting experience by doing student films? They don't usually pay, but you'll gain valuable experience and some film of yourself acting.

It is highly likely that everyone you'd be competing with for jobs will have far more experience than you do. It would behoove you to continue to take classes, either in college or out. Working actors still take classes.

In case you're interested, here are a few acting classes in the LA area, there are many more good ones:

    http://www.studioactreel.com/

    http://www.youngactorsstudio.com/classes...

    http://www.theactorscircle.com/

    http://www.strasberg.com/

If these are too far from you, there are likely some good classes closer. Ask your instructor. The instructor should want to help you because if you become successful, it makes them look good.

Hang in there and Good luck!
