  1. TFTP is usually used for remote IP-Phone provisioning.

If you are getting a tftp error, it indicates your IP-Phone is attempting to connect to your "pre-provisioned" service provider to get updated, or to get new provisioning data for the phone.

If you are self provisioning your phone, and have admin login credentials, there should be a configuration setting to "disable" remote provisioning.

If the IP-Phone is legitimately trying to connect to the pre-defined tftp server for updating, but is not able to connect, it is possible your NAT-Router is blocking the essential port required for TFTP services.  The default port to open is port 69.  Blocking of this port could be the problem, if you require tFTP server connection.
