  1. In my opinion .... none

  2. I was afraid to put my child on it, but it has helped her a LOT.  like a previous poster, people always say that kids act like zombies, not themselves, and this and that.  But apparently they must have too much given to them.  My childs dr. started her off on the lowest dose. She was just very fidgety and couldn't sit still.  EVERYONE at her school saw a positive difference in her.  She is able to pay more attention and her grades have improved greatly. we moved her up just a tiny bit...but now she is on the long lasting one, which is pretty much the same thing.

She started last year so her current teacher didn't really know she took it.  I was sick and she was staying at my mom' so she missed a few doses cause it was at home.  I sent a note to her teacher to let him know and at a parent teacher meeting he even said the same thing "I usually do not like putting kids on meds, but it really helps her"

So I guess you just have to find a good dr. and start off at a low dose and work your way up.

    Good luck.

  3. Each child is an individual, only a doctor would know what is "normal" for a particular child.  There is no "normal" in such cases.

  4. how about no dose

  5. direct this question to the pediatrician -not Yahoo.

  6. I am a teacher assistant at a school and i personally dont like Ritalin in kids, they make them look like zombies, and then they start to get these little tics that are annoying sometimes, but i am not sure when is too much , it depends on the childs weight that the docs go by.

  7. Ummmm, yea, that's what doctor's are for:  1:  they PRESCRIBE the medication  2:  They decide the dosage  3:  You follow the directions on the label.  Or maybe you're a pharmacist????  And dummy the dosage depends on the severity of the child's condition.  They could take 3mg or 30mg, again that's why MD's go to school for 8 years, to make these decisions
