I have Nokia N70 and offline mode means that you aren't connected to network so u can't receive any calls but u can enjoy your mobile

So you can still access your data stored on your phone when you are on an airplane or in a hospital. Neither are good places to keep your phone on.

Offline mode means you are able to use all your phone functions, including W-LAN, FM radio, etc, except network related ones (like calls or mobile internet). You can enter offline mode manually, or your phone enters offline mode automatically when you start it but you don't have a SIM card in it.
