  1. The ohm is a measurement of the electric resistance between two points. In a speaker, the ohm is a bad thing. The lower the ohms the less energy it takes to drive the speaker. The less energy, the more you get out of your amps. An 8 ohm speaker requires more amperage to run than a 4 ohm speaker. You need to know the ohms of all of your speakers if you want to calculate the load your amp is taking and to compensate for it.

Here is a good site that goes into great detail about it.

  2. Ohms is the measure or resistance that the sub has. The lower the resistance the more wattage you get out of your amp.

  3. measure of resistance :D

  4. ohms is a metric measure of resistance and usually has to do with mechanical and or electrical systems which is in physics. Ohms would most likely be the type of resistance in a subwoofer but there is alot of different types of resistance going on so if you know what kind you want to find out you can prolly get an idea.

  5. Ohms are the measurement of electrical resistance or load on an amp.

How you load an amp determines the amount of power out.

There is a trade off though, the lower the impedance (ohms) the more power is pushed as well as higher distortion and more heat is generated. The excessive heat will shorten the life of the amp.

For best overall performance, it's far better to get a higher powered amp and load it with 4 ohms than a lower powered amp and force it to push more power with a lower impedance (2 or less ohms) load.

The closer you get to 0 ohms, the more of a dead short it is. 0 ohms is a dead short.

  6. ohms is the resistance in the speaker, that is, required to make sound. 2 4 6 8 10  and so on.
