What is old mercedes 300sd's gas tank made out of? metal? plastic? alumium?

and how do i get access to it, i need to know what's made out of, and where it is.

Metal.Got bugs,use a bio killer.

Mercedessource has a used one.

Its under and behind trunk.I won't remove mine unless a hole.Its not fun.

The tank is located directly in front of the trunk. I know yours is a coupe, but if it was a sedan it would be in between the rear seat and the front of the trunk. In the trunk, you can remove the rear panel, all the way towards the front of the car. Then, I believe you have access to the tank so you can install some sort of heater if you have enough room. If not, you must remove the tank. There are a few bolts that hold the tank in place. Then, disconnect the fuel lines and the wires for the sending unit. Before you attempt to do this, line your trunk with tons of garbage bags and rags. You have to do this because when you remove the tank you have to tilt it to a very steep angle, and you are sure to spill some diesel fuel. Good luck!
