  8. My mother is Vietnamese.  It is our family tradition that you have to have at least 13 dishes for good luck.  I always have a list of dishes I am making that day.  I always try for more than 13, in case something goes wrong.  This is pretty much the same menu for all holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.  Another tradition is that the kids can have as many sodas as they want.  And I will make each child any dessert of their choice.

    Turkey

    Ham

    Cornbread dressing

    Mashed potatoes

    Hashbrown casserole

    Sweet potato casserole

    Green bean casserole

    Broccoli rice casserole

    Baked beans

    Cranberry sauce

    Home-made rolls

    Pumpkin bread and/or pumpkin rolls

    Chocolate pie

    Pecan Pie

    Jello Salad
