Acid rain was one of the first global warming reaction people started to realize what we are doing to our ecosystem.   It has made many animals instinct or destroyed from existence.

It lowers the pH in bodies of water, leading to a die-off of the organisms that originally made up that ecosystem.  As organisms who can populate water with a lower pH move into the niches, the ecological diversity lowers.

Likewise, acid rain leaches nutrients from the soil as it runs off into the bodies of water, lowering the productivity of the land.
