  1. There are many ways.  I dont know of any local organizations we have here in Des Moines Ia other than the crisis center hotlines.

However, many local police depts as well as organizations around the country have some simple but very important programs that would take little for a person to contribute.

One such program takes donations of womens clothing (including underwear) for rape victims.

Since police almost always have to take a victims clothing at the hospital for evidence it is nice to have donated clothes for them to wear home, that way they dont have to suffer the embarassment of asking a friend/relative to bring clothes over.

  2. The best way but hardest way is to tell the victim to think about positive things other then that time!!!

  3. Most communities in the USA have a rape crisis hotline, and these hotlines are always in need of volunteers willing to be trained to help victims and to educate the public. Domestic violence shelters also often have rape counseling and are in need of similar volunteers.

If you have been raped, you need to call the police!!!

  4. Rape victims need a support system and always at least 1 person in there life that they feel they can trust and talk to.

  5. By being there for them in whatever capacity they need.

  6. There are many organizations in my country Bangladesh to help the rape victims though rape is not a major social/sexual disaster in my country. After all if a rape victim comes to me for help I will try to do whatever she/he asked for her relief.

  7. RAINN the Rape Abuse Incest National Network is the nation's leading sexual assalt phone hotline and ONLINE HOTLINE.

Similar to an AIM based conversation, RAINN has an online portal that will connect sexual assault victims, their friends and family members to a trained volunteer...

and yes I am one of those volunteers and it has been the most rewarding experience of my life... and I do it all between my college study breaks, laying in bed, helping sexual assault survivors.

I highly encourage everyone to use this remarkable service... it truly is the most innovative and amazing way to help sexual assault victims from a 21st century approach!

  8. Thanks for linking that!! :)

  9. We can all help them without an organization as well by believing them and supporting them.

    Peace,

    Jenn

  10. I would help a rape victim by making best friend with him/her. I think most they need is support. Additionally, I would help to get them justice as that would help to more victims of the culprit.

I think as a friend I would try not to discuss this with them and ride them back to normal life far away from this disgusting feeling.

    Thanks,

    Ady1.

  11. I don't have a link to provide but I would first of all advise talking to someone. Anyone you can trust will do. Get those emotions to the front and deal with them. They will never go away on their own, they will only fester and hurt you more.

    God bless.

  12. I was drunk and this guy raped me, can you send me links to help me.

I was walking home and this guy gave offered me a ride, i was drunk, but he assured me that he would take me home, he stopped a few miles before my home and said i had to pay for the ride.

I am male and i want to know what is out there for me.

  13. In the state of Kentucky we have an on-line site web site which provides 24 hour support for anyone affected in any way by sexual violence.  It also offers help for people suffering with mental health issues.

Sadly, both of these issues have a tendency to be a low priority for local, state or federal funding.

One of the best ways we can help in these areas is to support local churches and centers that keep open doors to help those in need.  This can be done both by financial donations and volunteer work.
