What is or how can I substitute buckweat flour?

I have looked in all the supermarkest and they do not seem to have it here in Australia. Can I use any other type?

  1. Buckwheat flour has a strong, nutty flavour. Substitute with a mixture of white and whole wheat flour to approximate.


  2. depends on what you are making.  in pancakes, use regular all purpose flour.  It will taste different  but not a bad different.  I suspect that will be the case with most anything.
