I want to be a magazine editor when I grow up and we're doing something in school about what we want to do and I'd like to be an intern while I'm in college and then become a magazine editor when I get out of college.

  1. there is a HUGE difference between a magazine editor and an intern.

i'm not sure if you know what an intern is exactly, but anyways an intern is someone who works at certain establishment for college credit (paid or unpaid) and to add experience to their resume. They can also already have graduated from university/college and are interning in order to make connections and gain more experience. An intern is just starting off and is basically just an assistant to people working at the establishment (in this case the magazine). Obviously the magazine editor is the boss, as they edit the magazine and usually determine what goes in the issue and what goes out. they wouldn't be a magazine editor if they were at the same level of an intern.

think of it this way. an intern is like the cashier at McDonald's and the magazine editor is like the CEO of the McDonald's corporation.

  2. A Intern is NO WAY A JOB. ANYBODY WHO IS NOT in college should not be a intern. Intern equals a person who is just being a personal secretary to say they worked somewhere and got  experience hopefully to earn a job at that company or at a company in the field. Internship is nothing more than  a glorified Secretary who gets paid nothing or $10 a hour then sometimes get hired for about $30 a hour. A internship is basically just a way to make connections in the industry to get a job or get a job at that company. Magazine editors usually had their own magazine, own the magazine, were a established writer or have over 15 years of experience in what the magazine specializes in which he or she is recognized for accomplishments in that industry.  Magazine editors are almost always over 45 years old unless they have famous friends, famous family member, or own the magazine.

Internship basically is the guy who stands out at a company or recording studio and asks if he can watch what they do.

IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THIS ADVISE YOU WON'T GET A PAID INTERNSHIP:

THIS IS A MUST LIE FOR ANY INTERNSHIP. LIE THAT YOU GO TO COLLEGE IN THE CITY THE INTERNSHIP IS AT AND YOU DRIVE A CAR.

LIE ABOUT YOUR GPA, YOU DRIVE A CAR, THAT YOU HAVE PAST JOB OR EXPERIENCE, THAT YOU GO TO COLLEGE IN THE CITY THE INTERNSHIP IS AT, AND THAT YOU ENTERED COLLEGE AT 16 AND YOU ARE A JUNIOR ( if only 18 ) OR OVER 18 YOU ARE A SENIOR. DONT WORRY THEY ALMOST NEVER ASK TO SEE YOUR TRANSCRIPT AND IF THEY DO JUST TYPE A FAKE ONE UP.
