  1. Oxygen is an element, therefore, also a pure substance. Meaning that it is a substance that cannot be broken down any more. Oxygen is a non-metal gas and a diatomic molecule, molecules that are come with 2 atoms. Because Oxygen is a non-metal it tends to gain electrons when interacting with other elements or substances. When neutral, an oxygen atom has 8 protons in the nucleus along with 8 neutrons and 8 electrons orbiting around it. When in an ion state, oxygen gains 2 electrons and becomes negatively charged to have a full outer electron shell (Electron shell arrangements for elements goes in the order of 2,8,8,8 and repeated).

We humans need oxygen in order to survive. Human cells produce energy by cellular respiration. A process carried out by the mitchondria, an organelle located in all animal cells and not just humans. Simply put, cellular respirations is turning Glucose (Sugar) and Oxygen into Carbon Dioxide, Water (H2O) and Energy. Plants obtain enegy from not only cellular respiration, but they also have an organelle called chloroplasts that obtain energy from sunlight through photosynthesis which simply put is turning Carbon Dioxide and Water along with added sunlight into Glucose (Sugar) and Oxygen. Thus carbon dioxide is what we breathe out and oxygen is what we intake and for plants its the complete opposite, at least very generally speaking. So that's why we should all love plants and plant more trees. LOL.

  2. it is the air that we breath....trees give off oxygen....it's chemical formula is O2.... and the world is composed of oxygen

  3. its what trees give out so we can breathe :)

  4. Oxygen is a gas that is crucial for humans ..and without it we cant survive. Plants produce oxygen and our air has approx 14% O2
