  1. I am not an expert, so correct me if I'm wrong, but...

Ozone is O3 (3 oxygens bonded). The ozone is supposedly depleting because of CO2 emissions.  I think that China just passed up the US in carbon dioxide emissions.  I guess to prevent it, we need to stop emitting so much carbon dioxide by burning fuel?

  2. ozone is O3, or an unstable oxygen molecule, it depletes because burning anything, or running your car, ext. gives of carbon compounds, which after an average of 7 years of rising, breaks up the unstable ozone and creates new compounds, the only way to prevent it is to stop pollution, ( or release huge amounts of O3 into the atmosphere.

  3. O3--mollecule with three oxygens.

It is (or was) getting depleted because we used to be releasing lots of CFCs that catalyze its breakdown. This upsets the equilibrium levels of ozone.

The preventative measure is to stop using CFCs.  They used to be common in aerosols and refrigerants.  Not so much anymore.  I think I read somewhere that it's been helping somewhat.

Carbon dioxide has only a secondary impact on ozone via global warming--the wiki link explains it.
