  1. pKa quantifies the degree of dissociation of an acid. It is equivalent to the negative logarithm (base 10) of Ka, the dissociation constant of an acid at equilibrium (only true at equilibrium).

    pKa = -log(Ka)

    .......(concentration of protons)(concentration of deprotonated acid)

    Ka=  --------------------------------- ----------------------------------------...

    ..........(concentration of protonated acid)
