  1. It's basically an early release for good behavior.  Inmates who are eligible for parole go to a hearing to demonstrate if they've been rehabilitated enough to be released.  If they are released, they have to report regularly to a parole officer to prove that they are not returning to their criminal ways.

  2. Early release from a prison sentence. For instance, "life without parole" means he can never get out. "Sentenced to 20 years to life" means he will be eligible for parole after he's served 20 years of his sentence, at which time he'll have to apply to the parole board and be approved (usually involves "good behavior"...how you've conducted yourself in prison.)

  3. If you get sentenced to say,10 years in prison for a non-violent crime, you will serve around 18 months of the sentence.

Upon your release, you will be on parole till the 10 year original sentence expires. On a 10 year sentence, if  you went to prison in January of 2000 and got released in July of 2001,you will be on parole till January of 2010.Subject to reporting to your parole officer every month and random p**s tests.

  4. it's an early release from prison for good behavior or some reason. they're basically being let out of their sentence early.

  5. Serving part of your sentence while out of jail.

  6. Parole means... that is the criminal behaved while in prison he can be let out into the free world again but the cops check up on him and he has to report every so often days weeks... it all depends. so when they say for ex: he or she is on parole... he or she can be out side... but they need to report to a 'parole officer' .

    i hope this help.
