  1. It is a coarse salt used to make a pickling brine. It usually has additional additives that make it useless for anything else.

  5. pickling salt is just regular salt but without the iodine and the anti-caking agents you'll find in regular salt... so you can say that pickling salt is pure salt with no additives.

    Supposedly the additives in regular table salt would cause pickles to change color, hence you use pickling salt since it contains no additives.
