What is pinching of plants basically?how can adenium plants be pinched if it has a single stem??

i have heard that pinching of plants makes them grow faster and also helps them to branch....however i want to know how is is done practically?i hav a adenium plant dat has a single stem with no branching how can i pinch my plant to make it grow faster with lots of branches???

  1. Pluck the top newly formed shoots off between your thumb and forefinger every time they appear.

  2. You are pinching off the things you don't want and forcing the plant to grow in a certain shape or direction.  It wouldn't always make them grow faster.   Have you seen the Bonsai plants which look like tiny trees.  They pinch them.
