  1. http://portforward.com/default.htm

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwar...

  2. It is to allows access for a program through your router....basically through your firewall...it's an exception to the firewall so that programs like P2P programs can have access to your PC when you upload/download things online.

To setup portforwarding go into your program that you want to use and setup a port # like 4444 or anything you want with say 4 or 5 digits and write that number down.

Fireup your internet explorer or Firefox internet browser and type in your routers ip address. should be 192.168.1.1 if you have a Linksys router. not sure on others just look into the manual.

Once in the routers configuration you go to the gaming and applications tab and give your program a nickname and enter the port # you wrote down in both boxes and tick allow access and choose both TCP and the other..I normally tick both and tick save and close....save and close your program and restart it up and you should have a port setup for that program...alot of times the program will allow you to test your port forwarding to see if it is setup correctly...

    Hope that helps...
