  1. I can get a beer for about 2 Euro.  But for African first visitors, you might have to pay 3 Euro or more.

    I'm JUST KIDDING !!

The prices on most things are pretty fair.  They will be more expensive than you are used to in Africa, though.  So be prepared to have to spend a bit more money than you are used to.  Vacations are always more expensive than just staying home :-(  I wish I could convince my wife of that !! LOL

  2. i'm a s african who studied in germany for a while and i really felt the pinch. that was 2 years ago and i dont think much would have changed.

  3. Prices there are much on par of other EU countries, for Africans as well as for everybody else. Wish you a super time there.

  4. Germany is quite expensive but everything you buy from the store is end-price means the VAT is already included (I heard now is like 19%, used to be 16%).

I would say living in the USA for the same quality of life, is much cheaper for me. I'm comparing living downtown Stuttgart and downtown Denver. I'm not sure the comparison with Africa since I never been there.

  5. Expect very high prices. A European travelling in Africa usually plans on spending between 15 to 25 USD per day for food, a bed in a hotel, entry fees to sights and cost for activities and transport in buses and trains. The very same person would have to spent at least 50 to 70 USD  for the same things in Europe.

To give you another example: In Western Europe, a single person usually recieves around 300 EUR per month plus the rent s/hepays in social welfare if s/he can't take care of hirself. The colleges in Germany ask that you have around 450 EUR per month in order to get a student visa to Germany. 450 EUR per month is needed just in order to survive in Western Europe as a student - that you have a place to stay, enough food to eat, can wash yourself and your clothes, can buy the books and attend classes. It will not pay for travelling. If you are travelling and are not staying with friends, you'll need to spent around 1300 EUR for a month in Germany.

    Hope I helped.
