A primer is a base that goes on after moisturizing, but before foundation. It's mostly made of silicone. It keeps your foundation from absorbing into your pores, therefore keeping them cleaner. It also creates a smoother complexion for your foundation to stick to, and makes it last longer. I personally feel that Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is the best, even better that UD Primer Potion because the UD brand doesn't give enough bang for the buck because of the packaging. Primers are sometimes colored to either blend into your foundation better, or, in the cases of green colored primer, to counteract redness in your complexion.

primer smoothes out you skin and makes is so smooth. Once its applied the makeup glides right on. It's also supposed to fill in lines and make an even complexion.
