  1. Psychology is the scientific study of human behavoir and mental processes (at various levels of reductionism). And scientific study, itself, is never bad. It's *application* can be, although I would suggest this is not the case for psychology.

It's improved the lives of people with mental disorders, obviously, improved our teaching systems (i.e. studies memory), social studies (i.e. how to decrease discrimination/conflict). It's had it's problems - over-diagnosis happens in some places but is better than no diagnosis at all (signal detection theory) and there have been immoral studies but there are now ethic boards in place to prevent this.

  2. Psychology is the study of mental processes and behavior.

And no, it's not bad. I happen to love Psychology.

    Why would it be bad?

  3. Psychology cannot be 'bad', and neither can it be 'good'.

Psychology is basically a theory out of which it has become an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental processes and behavior.

From it comes the study of perception, cognition, emotion, behavior, personality and interpersonal relationships.

Psychology is like a gun, knife, car, a plane or bed linen, it is what it is and can only ever be 'bad' if the person ustilising it does so with either through mishandling, or with bad / negative thoughts ~ and thus killing someone by suffocating them with the bed linen.

    Sash.
