Will be arriving in Portugal (lisbon) on boxing day and am wondering if it is better to hire a car to get from the airport or if public transport will be running on boxing day.

Cheers

  1. boxing day in Portugal means nothing, is just a normal day after an holiday.

  2. Boxing day (26th December) is not a legal holiday in portugal. So you can expect public transport to be in operation like on every day during holiday season (between Chrismas and New Year). Even if it would be a holiday, there is public transport running on limited capacities.

  3. haha, common question, being born in Portugal, I know. Boxing Day is an insane event which most Portuguese taxi/cart drivers will be participating in, and the few that aren't will probably already be taken by other tourists, so the best bet would be to hire a service to drive u

  4. i hope this helps

  5. Boxing Day is a uniquely British bank holiday.

It is a normal working day in all of Europe except GB.

    Portugal is no exception.
