What is punkbuster and why do i keep getting kicked out of cod4 online for pc?

for no reason that i can think of i cant play cod4 online without getting kicked out for "no packet flow" i have no idea what it is but it says something about "punkbuster" can someone please tell me whats going on?

Punkbuster is a program designed to bust cheatin' punks.  If you are a cheater, then you won't be able to play in any "official" or ranked servers.  If you aren't a cheater then update your PB client, and make sure you aren't using any unofficial patches or mods with your game.

punkpuster is what other people have said and loads of online shooters use it. its nothing to worry about. the problem is thats its not updating itself so you have an old version its kicking you off. there is an option in the game settings to allow auto updating but this doesn't always work (didn't for me) go here and download a program they made called pbsetup, its the first on in the list.

run it and scan for your games. highlight cod4 and it will download and install the latest version for you. quick re boot and away you go.

its quite a common problem so thats why they made this program.
