What is quality assurance staff?

Quality assuarance staff is responible for checking and maintening the quality standard of the processes and products on  a regular basis.

It depends on the industry.  You would need to have some knowledge of the standards of the industry in order to be effective in supervising QA or designing a QA program for a company.

For example, I worked for a general construction contractor which had a QA department.  The people employed there would visit each of the construction sites, checking things such as window installations to make sure the workers were installing them consistently and per the window manufacturer's recommendations, so as to avoid remedial work being needed sometime down the road because they had not been installed correctly.
