  1. *spoiler*

A Man for All Seasons is set in England at the start of the Protestant Reformation.

The main character is Sir. Thomas More, a devout catholic, who works for King Henry VIII.

King Henry wants to attain a divorce from his wife, but the Pope will not allow it. He then passes the Act of Supremacy in the Parliament. Despite prodding from his family and friends More refuses to acknowledge the authority of this document which leads to his imprisonment and eventual death.

That's about it, though the play is very good and worth reading.
