  1. Most places dont hand them out but if they do they are usually blue or gray (a not-so-shiny silver). Sometimes a ribbon or certificate is given to fourth place. But gold is way better!

  2. It's a columnist's name for his articles on the olympic coverage, written by Chris Chase.

  4. There isn't one.

  5. a medal for coming 4th?

  6. Isn't it some metal like Pewter or something?

I remember at the US Skating Nationals they gave out pewter medals for 4th place but I'm not sure if it's applicable to any other sport...

  7. Disappointment

  8. id like to call it a consolation prize or certificate hahahah

  9. From 4º to 8º they get a diploma. I don't think 4º place gets a medal

  10. There is no such thing.

  11. Air

  12. a free  voucher to return for  "free"  McDonalds  happy meal.!!

    Copper

  13. Only the first three athletes get medals, however others might get a diploma.

For example, in shooting competitions, the athletes first try to qualify to the final round the next day. Only 8 people get to the final round. While the first three get a medal, the other five get a diploma specifying their final position. Same in the marathon, only I think in this case, the first 25 to finish the race get recognition. The first three getting medals and the rest a diploma. Makes sense, for some athletes it would be a big honor to finish among the top ten at an olympic event. It means that in that particular moment you are among the best of the best in a specific discipline.

Maybe this is what you were talking about.
