What is "Trades" mean in the stock market?

how's it different from "Volume"? what does it indicate?

  1. A trade is when someone sells or buys stocks irrespective of the quantity.

    For example I sell or buy 1000 shares of xyz  and then again I sell or buy 100 shares of xyz company . This means I made two trades while the volume is 1000+100=1100.

  2. Every time a buyer and a seller are matched up for a stock transaction you have a trade.  Trades are counted by the number of transactions, not the size or cost. "Traders" are those who transact for a living.

    Volume is the measure of the number of shares of stock transacted.  In this way, one can determine whether is more demand (high volume) or more supply (low volume) impacting the market at that moment, or day.
