What is "albacore"? is it a brand of tuna fish or?

well albacore is a NOT a species of tuna....they are a fish that is very closly related to tuna and tastes very similar to tuna....albacore are SMALLER than most tuna species but look similar to them....canned tuna companies use albacore because it is cheaper, and more plentiful than all other kinds of tuna.....

It's not a brand but a type of tuna. About mercury in this kind of fish:

"Like other fish, albacore bio-accumulate mercury over time, and some groups have urged testing and recall of older canned albacore that may have high mercury levels. Albacore caught with long-line fishing gear are older fish and have accumulated more mercury than younger, pole and line or troll-caught albacore".

FDA recommends to limit albacore white tuna to one meal per week as it is higher in mercury.

Albacore is a tuna.  Fish generally eat other fish, so the larger the fish, the better chance it has mercury from the fish it ate.  Mercury is a poisonous metal that get absorbed directly (even from touch) into the body and is known for causing brain damage in children.
