In any chemistry, actually.  You can write a reaction.  You write it in a forward direction, A plus B yields C.   Often, in fact mostly, the reverse can happen.  C reacts to give A plus B.  That's the back reaction.  This is what equilibrium conditions are all about.  Forward and back reactions can be going on at the same time 'fighting' each other.  

    And they said chemistry was boring...   ;-)
