  1. IT is a bit of lucky dip in Australia. Some (very few)companies expect suit and tie every day; some don't care if you come in with bare feet and the bum out of your raggy denim shorts; most are somewhere in between.

If you've been told that the dress code is 'corporate casual', I would suggest that on day one, you wear a business shirt, tie and decent trousers (if you're a guy), and skirt (or pants) and nice blouse (with low to mid heels) if you're a girl. Then check out what everyone else is wearing so you feel comfortable on day 2. If you haven't been given a guideline, wear suit and tie but a girl will always be OK in IT with a nice blouse and skirt or pants with low to mid heels.

Don't forget to ask if they have a casual Friday each week as that's very common. Ask about just how casual is acceptable on those days - some still have a few guidelines.

  2. Corporate casual doesn't normally mean ties.  Usually "corporate casual" signifies a smart pair of trousers (or pants for a woman) and a "sports" jacket or "tailored" jacket (for women).  In other words, it's just short of a "formal" business suit, but not so casual as jeans and a t-shirt.

    Good Luck with the interview.
