What is "engineered wood"?

It is man made not natural. It is not superior like the real wood. We just bought Brazilian Cherry for flooring. Just so shiny and slippery and beautiful to the touch. Dont put wood floor if you flood. We are installing it upstairs.

Well...it's a long story:

Choo Choo Charlie, an engineer who used Good & Plenty candy to make his train run, squished some G&P onto his real wood floor.  He had to do something before Mrs. Choo Choo Charlie got home, so he invented some fake wood...it looked better than the real McCoy, and nothing could get squished onto it.

Evilrobobear and Yahpoo Phoenix have spents months, nay...decades engineering their wood, and wood be better authorized to explain....unlike me, so new to your world, and strange ways.......ask them!....

a simple 2x10 is not... a particle board with 2x2 wood on each end and looks like an I-beam is engineered...and a laminated beam is engineered.... pretty much anything designed is engineered, solid wood 98%  of times is not, it is, if it's designed for a specific load, like 10x10 beams for a log cabin gable roof
