What is "in texting" with Verizon?

When I view my bill/usage online i see under the "messaging" section that theres something called "in texting" but it says 0 for me. Does anyone know what this is? Is it free?

It is texting to people that also use Verizon as their mobile provider

"in texting" is when you text people "in" the Verizon network (other people who have Verizon phones)

"in" texting is when you text someone who also has verizon. Yes, it does cost money, i believe its 20 cents for a text and 25 for a pix message. If you want to text, you need to go to verizon and set up a plan. I have a plan in which i pay 15 dollars a month for unlimited "in" texting and 500 "out", which are people who dont have verizon.
