Question:

What is "liquid cream"?

I'm making home made ice cream with my new ice cream maker. The recipe involves milk, and another ingredient called 'liquid cream'. Because the ice cream maker was made in Europe, I'm not sure if liquid cream is the translated term for thickened cream (in Australia) or another kind of cream - maybe 'pure cream'? The fat content of thickened cream is 35% fat, and the fat content of pure cream is 40% fat. (though I don't know if fat content is relevant)

Does anyone know whether the term liquid cream is the same thing as what is known in Australia as thickened cream, or something else?

  1. Hi,

I'm australian living in europe - liquid cream is pure cream - the thin stuff that you get by dairy farmers in the cartons.  not thickened cream.

  2. They are probably just talking about heavy cream. You can find it in the milk section of the grocery store.
