What is "mesculin" (the salad) made of?

is it a type of leafy vegetable, or is it a style of salad... I'm confused, anyone know the answer to this?

  1. It is normally young "salad" leaves. similar to baby carrots or corn but of salad vegetables. I think that's why a lot of people assume it's a type of lettuce.

  5. Mesclun is just a mix of young salad leaves.  It might include spinach, arugula, lettuce, dandelion greens, raddichio, etc.

    The term "mesclun" comes from the word mescla which means a mixture.

  7. it's mesclun and it's a species of lettuce, very expensive because it has to be harvested by hand with razor blades.

    compare to romaine, iceberg, green leaf, red leaf, butter lettuce etc.
