What is "natural resources" in economics?

huh? im doing ems work and everytime i look up natural resources i just get envitomentle stuff... thanks

  1. I always thought that natural resources were what you get out of -  or from the ground ie; mining, timber, etc, I could be wrong, have been before


  2. My economics professor explained that any part of nature that can be used by humans to make a living is considered a natural resource.

    Some of these are:

    - trees and forests for lumber and building materials

    -ocean, river, and lakes for fishing and transportation (and even for humans to drink)

    -the land and soil for agricultural , farming

    - oil for energy and power

    - even wind and sunshine can be used for power
