I heard that bringing dog to UK is very difficult. Because of my job I have to come to UK and I want to bring my dog with me. I can not live without him. I am in Czech Republic. My dog has PET EU passport and he fitted with a microchip on Aguste 4. He vaccinated against rabies on 25/01/2008.

Also I have an official record of the result of a serological test for him, carried out on a sample taken on Aguste 04, and tested in an EU-approved laboratory which states that the rabies neutralising antibody titre was greater than 0.5 IU/ml.

At the mean time I arranged for treating my dog for ticks and tapeworms less than 48 hours before entering to UK.

Now I want to know can I bring my dog to UK in end of this month or not.

  1. Answers to this are on your other thread!!

Good luck - and the box size is relevent incidentally.

  2. Kamal, you must check with a vet and with the DEFRA website.

I'm in Poland and I wanted to take my dog to the UK with me last summer when I visited my family, and I had to have the blood tests 6 months BEFORE entry to the UK. This is the standard rule for all domestic dog owners, unless you have travelled to the UK before, in which case you may be able to apply for 'fast track' entry.

Please check the regulations, because if you end up arriving in France without the correct preparation, your dog will only be allowed into the UK if you agree to have him quarantined. It isn't enough to have him vaccinated just before you travel and wormed before entry. The rabies regulations are very strict, the blood test wasn't cheap but I got a certificate from the Ministry here, but I still had to wait 6 months before we could travel to the UK!

    Here's the DEFRA website:

    http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quaranti...

PS Here's the appropriate sentence from the DEFRA website on the page about info for vets:

The 6 month rule for entering or re-entering the UK

A dog or cat may not enter or re-enter the UK until 6 calendar months have passed from the date that the blood sample which gave a satisfactory test result was taken.

[which suggests that if you had the test done on 4 August, your dog cannot enter the UK until 4 February 2009!]

and the link for that on the DEFRA website:

    http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quaranti...

  3. i don't think you will have to quarantine your dog because of the passport, thats what it is for as long as you have kept up with all vaccinations and treatments, but you should look up UK animal quarantine rules.

and please, make sure you have the correct sized box, because you will be in trouble if you dont, because all animals are checked, and so are the boxes.
