  1. The unweighted GPA factors in all classes on a 4.0 scale where A=4.0, B=3.0, etc.  It usually includes all classes, including non-academic ones, but this depends on your school.  In my high school, gym counts in the unweighted GPA.  Classes such as gym will never be included in the weighted GPA.

The weighted GPA factors in academic classes and electives.  If they are honors/AP classes, then an A would equal a 4.5 or a 5.0, for example, so this makes the unweighted GPA higher.

  2. Unweighted GPA is what your GPA would be without added multipliers (weight) from honors, AP, IB, etc. classes.

Most schools weight those classes because they are more challenging, so you get more grade points than you would in a regular class.
