It's classification to describe by Stereotyping a group.  Race and Ethnicity are Not the Same and literally means Nothing as some women have given birth in interacial marriages to twins and one twin more closely resembled one parent and the second another.  It's the Human race according to species homo sapiens.

  3. In everyday talk, race and ethnicity are often interchanged as if they mean the exact same thing. But from a sociological perspective, race and ethnicity refer to two completely different ways of viewing/classifying people.

    I remember from classes that many are trying to phase out the term 'race' because it connotes a classification system based on genetics. And that's that. Ethnicity is a much more textured way of classifying people. Ethnicity takes into account the cultural aspect, way of life, ways of thinking about things, ordering the world, food, social groups etc. etc. People are not who they are because of their genetics but instead their identity is based on the people they hang out with (you know the whole 'man is a social being' thing).
