Question:

What is rakat, and why are they necessary?

Quranites say rakat shouldn't be done; orthodox muslims say they should be done. I don't know what rakat are.

Also, can someone tell me what's wrong with doing the quranite form of salat? http://www.submission.org/salat-how.html

Finally, what is said in the 'intention' before prayer? "In your own language, secretly or audibly, state your intention that you are about to observe the Contact Prayer." Do you just say "I now intend to do the morning contact prayer to Allah" or something else?

Thanks.

    i agree

  3. Submitters are believed to be non-muslim cult. It is meaningless to ask muslim this question.

By its very meaning Niyyah (intention) is supposed to be only by heart.

  4. rak'ah is how many standings in a prayer.

2 rak'ah means one would stand up facing kibla 2 times

4 rak'ah means one would stand up facing kibla 4 times

how to recite in each rak'ah and what to do in between is explained in many websites just as the two below:

    http://www.islamicfinder.org/prayer/inde...

Why is it important?  The main and most important reason is because this is the way our Prophet has taught us.

And like the others said, we don't make a literal word by word intention. This is just because the prophet never practiced this, neither told us, nor the companions, and therefore is a type of innovation.  But we do need to know what we are about to pray, because we are not to change our mind after we start our prayer. i.e. one starts praying sunnah of duhr, and then decide he's praying the fard/compulsory.  There are dua'/supplications that we can read before and after starting prayer, and all throughout...

  5. they are the follower of rashad khalifa, and they are considered as non-Muslim, they don't believe in hadiths, they rejects all the hadiths!!

  6. You don't have to say your intention, you just have to think it. So, basically if you decide to go pray your afternoon prayer you wouldn't be able to decide to pray your sunnah (extra prayer) after starting the afternoon prayer.

A rakat is a measure of a prayer. So each rakat consists of standing, bowing and prostrating. And the 2nd and 4th rakat also has the tashahud (which is sitting on your knees and moving the finger up and down while reciting).

It sounds complicated but after a few times, it's very easy.

Here is a link that explains it:

    Nichole

  7. Rakat is how many parts in your salat. Parts as in {reciting surat al-Fatiha, doing ruqu & sujood} This would be considered as 1 Rakat.

    Fajir-2 Raqat

    Zuhur- 4 Raqat

    Asr- 4 Raqat

    Maghrib-3 Raqat

    Isha-4 Raqat

&Just to let you know, that site is Anti-Islamic..it says that hijab is not manditory and music is not haram.

This is what is said in the intention before starting your prayer:

"SUBHANA KALLAH HUMMA WABI HAMDIKA WATABARA KASMUKA WATA'ALA JAD-DUKA WALA ILAHA GHAYRUK"

Meaning: You are Glorified, Oh Allah, and Praised, Your Name is Blessed, Your Majesty is Exalted, and none has the right to be worshipped but You.
