  1. Here's a great website or two for it.

The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. There are presently 154 Contracting Parties to the Convention, with 1669 wetland sites, totaling 151 million hectares, designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.

  2. Ramsar convention was held in 1971 in Iran with aqn objective to save wetlands of the world. A few sites of national and international importance were selected and countries who signed the treaty agreed to save them.

Wetlands are very important for our bird life and have a very diffrent ecosystem depending on region and so diffrent birds and animals depend on them in diffrent time of year.

You can check ramsar.org, this site has full details of the convention, sites declared as important and need to conserve them.
