  1. definetly active ankles 4 vball because it helps support the most popular injuries that can happen during a volleyball match or practice

  2. If you want to protect your ankle, try doing some ankle stabilizers and strength conditioning, this will do the prevention for you.  If you wear a brace/get taped etc, you'll become dependent on your braces and stop using muscles that you would normally.  If you have an athletic trainer or even ask a coach about some stabilizing equipment for ankles.  We wore active ankles in college and were required to do about 10 minutes of ankle work a day to keep our ankles strong.  Also, if you can get into a pool, just work your ankles in there, stretch them out etc. this will help keep them strong without putting a lot of stress on them.  If you still feel the need for some protection, I'd get active ankles just because of the flexibility.  Do keep in mind that active ankles can result in serious knee injuries because it limits the movement in your ankle so the stress goes to your knee.  The one thing I really recommend that makes all the difference in comfort (atleast on my team) was to put your actives under the insert in your shoe, this will ease the pain and shouldn't give you blisters.

  3. active ankle helps wayyyy more, and works better

  8. i really woulnt wear any ankle protection unless you are injured. it just makes your ankles weaker

  9. i have always used active ankle for volleyball. its one of the best ankle preventions and if you have sprained your ankle they are a good support. i've never tried the brand so i'm a little biased but for volleyball i'm pretty sure active ankle is the most used brand.

  10. ACTIVE ANKLES. thats what i use, and my coach had them also and she sprained her ankle once with them on!! so imagine what would happen if she didnt have them on!! they work reallyy well and the other brand is kindof expensive...!

  11. You really shouldn't wear ankle braces until you have ankle problems. The brace will restrict your movement; then your ankle will weaken and your range of motion will decrease. Wearing a brace will actually do more harm than good. I learned this lesson the hard way.

Listen to me: I just had ankle reconstruction because I tore two ligaments during school volleyball season. Just recently was I able to play in a club tournament. There's a pretty nasty 6-inch-long scar on my ankle. Here's the interesting part: I tore my ligaments while wearing an ankle brace.

Don't let this happen to you: wait until you hurt yourself. If you really want protection, go to a physical therapist for a couple sessions and learn some activities to strengthen your ankle and surrounding muscles.
