Question:

What is relevant diction?

I'm doing a report on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and I'm supposed to find a passage that proves a main theme and explain how it supports the theme and then show the relevant diction. I know what diction is but how do I find what the relevant diction is?

  1. I think the term 'relevant' is what's misleading you... all they are asking for is for you to find a small piece of the story that is in itself a mirror of the entire story.  If you're good on what diction is, then you should be able to point to the language/vocabulary and explain why its use is significant.
