I don't know what religion I should be or practice. I just want to know what everyone else thinks about religion. I need more purpose in my life and want to know if religion is the answer. I don't want to be restricted to Christianity and would welcome visiting other types of religion.

  1. First of all, I think its wonderful that you've decided to

open your mind to other spiritual ideas and systems of

beliefs, but it sounds to me like the more important

question you should be asking yourself is why do you feel

you "must" be part of a religion.

Religion isn't the only way to give your life purpose. For

most of my life, religion simply didn't matter because I

didn't need it to feel happy with my life or to know that my

life has great purpose. I had found that purpose through my

work which gives me tremendous satisfaction and a feeling of

meaningful accomplishment. You could very well say that my

work was my "religion". What I'm trying to say is that

ANYTHING you truly care about in life is what gives your

life meaning and purpose. For me, it is my work, for another

person, that purpose may be their children, for another it

may be engineering, mathematics, helping the less fortunate,

art, gardening, writing, stock trading, golf, the list goes

    on and on.

Now I'm not trying to bash religion, but what you must

understand is that regardless of what religion or system of

beliefs you choose, if you want your religion to be a

meaningful part of your life, you must truly care about

it. A person's spiritual beliefs are a deeply personal

aspect of themselves and you should never join a religion or

spiritual movement just because your family expects you to,

or that your friends or co-workers are all part of

something. Your spiritualality is deeply personal and

ultimately about YOU and nobody else. Whatever system of

beliefs you choose to accept, you should do so because that

doctrine truly gives you meaningful answers, not because

someone or some group of people told you it will.

  2. When you believe in something higher than this physical universe, you will know that there is more and that this is not all there is to life.

If you are an Atheist, you are screwed because you believe life ends when you're dead. Have fun being nothing!

  3. im catholic im not hard core catholic im more laid back i believe God is not a person he is more of a spirit like you can find him if you look in ur "peaceful place"

  4. Turn to Christianity, you'll find a meaning in life, trust me. Read the Bible and take in the words, you'll know everything that there is needed to know. (Why most people are ignorant is that they just read, and don't take the Word in)

If people believe in no God, then what will their life revolve on? They may have money and fame, but no matter how much of it, they will always have an empty hole in their hearts.

The purpose of our lives is:

    - To worship God, and praise God.

    - As a Christian: Preach the Good News: Save other souls.

    - Live life to the fullest as God wanted us to (also live a fair life, never cheat through it)

  5. Religion will restrict your freedom and give you guilt. Dont become delusional

  6. Psalms 145:18; and John 14:13 are two scriptures that might help.

If you are un-happy with your life and you need more purpose in it you need to have a basis for a belief. What are you going to base your faith on? If it's the Bible, then you need to know what the Bible say's. The book of Revelation states that there is allot of false religions out there. Eph 4:5; Psalms 83:18; Acts 15:14; John 17:3. If you after reading what God's true name is wish to find out more, ask any Jehovah Witness that knocks on your door. If not that, call them on the phone. The answers you get from them are Bible based. They will even use the King James Bible if that's the only one you will listen to. The truth is the truth, no matter what translation you use.

    Best wishes

  7. All religions are based on nothing more than man made doctrines which are designed to control and deceive the people with pagan traditions, laws and rituals.

Why do you think you need a religion?  Religion doesn't save you.  God does.

Jesus never told us to find a religion or a church building.  The church is the people.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me."

    Paul stated:

    Eph 4:4  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling;

4:5  one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

There is only ONE.  Not many.  Together we are to be one body of believers of Christ.  In unity of the faith, not unity of "religion".  To grow and mature and not deceived by the wind of men's doctrines.

Eph 4:13  till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    Eph 4:14  that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

    Eph 4:15  but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ;

I don't know about you, but there is no other god that I know of that sacrificed his own son for our sins, so that we may be redeemed and have eternal life with Him.

Christianity has been divided wrongly into "religious" sects.  God never intended for us to be divided.  There is a true remnant of Christians and then there are "christians in name only".  You need to learn the difference.  A great place to start is with a Bible, prayers and a good ministry that teaches the doctrines of God, not doctrines of men.

  8. Well.... only you truly know if religion will be the answer you're looking for. I'm a Mormon. My suggestion is to go and examine many different religions and faiths, see which ones have sentiments and teachings that you agree with, or that interest you. There are so many different religions out there, I agree it can be hard to find one that is right for you.

I've honestly always been fascinated by Buddhism, and by Falun Gong. A guy I know practices Qi gong, which is a belief system which falun gong took off from.

Google different religions as you hear of them. You'll either find one that you like, or you'll find several with aspects that you like. It is ultimately a very personal choice. Most religious people (myself included) believe that the church they go to is the "right one". But you need to determine that for yourself.

    Good luck on your journey.
