What is required to qualify for Financial aid?

I am thinking about going back to school for something in the medical field it would have to be something I can do on-line because I do need to work full time to pay my bills,my question is what is required to qualify for financial aid,and how does that work?is it based on credit?this is something I have been thinking for a while and something I really want to do.

    Your first step is to fill out the FAFSA to find out how much/what kind of federal aid you can qualify for.  Next, I would check out your state higher ed agency to see what programs they have.

  3. The first thing you have to do is complete a FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

    Some aid is need based (like the PELL grant and subsidized loans), the unsubsidized loan is NOT need bases, nor is it credit based. For the Federal Unsubsidized loan the only requirment is that you be enrolled at least half time at an accredited institution.  

    You also need to contact the Financiald Aid Office at schools you plan to attend to see if the individual school has any additional applications that need to be filled out.

    Alternative or private student loans are the only types of financial aid that are credit based.
