  1. It's either calf roping, or steer roping.  Either way, it doesn't hurt the horse.

  2. Sounds like he's a wrangler. Breaking a horse involves some roping...You have to get ahold of the horse by using a lasso so he won't run away. Then you must get him used to the idea of wearing a saddle and a having a bit in his mouth, and finally having a rider on his back.

It's not a lot of fun for the horse at first, but it doesn't hurt him.

  3. There is many different types of Roping,

    Calf roping, Team roping,

He goes to roping's and most likely has a partner!

the calf comes out of a chut and then the heeler gets the hind feet, then the header get the horns,

    Fastest times win !

Ropers do make money at Jackpots,, rodeo's etc

A Good Rope horse can go from $5.000 to $50.000

My nephew HAS place 2nd at the NFR  In1992  he won close to 90 grand

  4. its where the horse is timed and you either do team roping or just rope a calf - it builds muscle and it teaches the horse to do more than wtc in an arena its fun and its a speed event you see at western shows/ play days or at the rodeos!

  5. He must be talking about calf roping, no...does'nt hurt the horse but the calf on the other hand, can't feel too pleasureable. Hope I helped.

  6. Roping - in the simplest terms possible - is where you ride a horse and "rope" cows/calves. Like a lasso, you know? You can probably find something on you tube if you want to see it done.

Roping generally doesn't hurt the horse or calf, and they certainly try not to hurt anyone or anything. But accidents happen. Mostly it's the calves that get hurt, running around with ropes on them. They can dislocate legs, do some pretty nasty damage to their necks, and I've seen a few tails come off. :(

By showcasing, he could mean several things. There are shows for roping horses just to display their confirmation, etc. He could breed them.

"Breaking in" a horse is essentially training them. He probably gets them used to cattle and ropes, teaches them how to "move" a cow, among other things.

    Hope I helped.
