  1. roti is made from flour (corn, wheat or rice). we just mix flour with water (oil or milk for more texture). then we divide the dough in small round balls and flatten it out with rollers into sizeable round shapes and then toast 'em directly on fire...or a saucepan. you can either have plain rotis or spread butter, oil, ghee, margerine,

honey, or sugar on them. Rotis are usually paired with curries or sabjis or kebabs.

The roti differs from region to region in India...sometimes they're in layers (much thicker), thats when their called parathas....sometimes they're much smaller and fried in oil, which makes them puff up..thats when they're called puris.

  2. Roti is the traditional Indian bread, normally eaten with curries or cooked vegetables. It is made most often from wheat flour, cooked on a flat or slightly concave iron griddle called a tawa. It is similar to a tortilla in appearance. Like breads around the world, roti is a staple accompaniment to other foods, maybe spread with ghee (clarified butter) or yoghurt.

  3. A big chunk of meat(1Kg) baked in an oven.

  4. in Sri Lanka you add freshly grated coconut to the dough (flour+water) and not so much oil and flattened in to a circular shape and roasted in a flat pan until its done on both sides, this makes it slightly sweeter. Its eaten with a chillie paste and a dhal curry.(or anything other kind of curry really - you cant really have rules with roti...)

  5. Indian flat bread

its so yummy!!! I love Indian food

  6. indian bread thats rolled out and cooked on a thava or open flame. its eaten withlike all other indian food.

  7. Roti (aka chapati or phulka) is a traditional Indian flatbread may from whole wheat and cooked on a flat griddle (tawa).

I eat rotis almost daily with vegetables, curries, dal....

But roti is also eaten in many Caribbean countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia.....

  8. Roti is a bread in India, and in the Jamaica and Trinidad it it a large flour tortilla like sandwich with a curried meat, chicken, veggies or goat wrapped up in it.

While they are all flat to begin with, order it in a West Indian place and you will get a sandwich like meal in an Indian restaurant you will get a flat tortilla like bread made from whole wheat and brushed with butter, the non white version of naan.
