  1. Rugby isnt necessarily a "s****." game and is played by many island nations such as Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. It is commonly played in UK,france,NZ,aus and south africa. The major difference in rules is in league, you team is allowed 5 runs with the ball, each run ending with the opposition player bringing them to ground (tackle). AT the completion of these tackles it is common to kick the ball in an offensive manner. in Rugby union you must release the ball when tackled, forming a ruck where players compete for possession. mauls are also common, where players bind onto each other whilst in possession of the ball, this in open play, then attempt to push the ball and their team down the field trying to gain territory. League try (the placing of the ball in an opponents end zone) is worth 4 points where union is worth 5. league is more front on and straightforward running and can be quite predictable at times, where union is much more varied with various other ways to gain ground, and to gain possesion rather than simpyl running it. league is more physical and rougher where as union involves a greater range of skills, rather than mere brute strength.

  2. Kinda like football...

  3. Rugby has many similarities to American Football, but footy (Rugby Union) is in no way "Just like football".  For starters, it's mostly a continuous game.  There is no stopping after a tackle, play is divided up into two 40 minute halves rather than four 15 minute quarters.  The only time you'll see a lengthy stop in the game is due to an injury.  The two teams of 15 will generally stay out there for the length of the game.  There are substitutions, but there are no seperate offensive teams and defensive teams for each side.  The best way to understand how to play is to watch a game.  But the biggest difference is in the flow of the game.

  4. Football allows forward pass, rugby doesnt and that changes the complexion of the game

  6. rugby is a game of strength, endurance, skill, fitness, and commitment. In rugby union (All blacks)you possess the ball until a penalty or the other team 'intercepts' the ball. In Rugby league you get a maximum of 5 tackles before(like American Football' you kick it 'punt it ' down the field. Rugby union players are generally stockier and League players are generally athletic. both have different rules and points system.

  7. foot ball with a soccer ball no pads people get some big ******** bruises

  8. rugby is just like football

(sorry for the short answer.. gotta go to sleep... :D

  9. Rugby is not like football.

It has an oval ball and the aim is to score a "try" over the oppostion's line. A try is worth 5 points and when a try is scored the team that scored the try get a "conversion" which is when they sit the ball on a tee and try to kick it through the post.

Each team constists of 15 players.

The ball must not be passed backwards or a "penalty" is given.

The winning team is the team with the most points after 80 minutes of play.

The current world champions are England who beat Australia in the final in 2003

  10. Rugby is more like a combination of football and soccer. Each side has 15 players, players are broken into backs and forwards, forwards are the players in the scrum (imagine a huddle in football, but with people supporting each other and trying to kick the ball to their scrumhalf.) It is then the scrumhalfs job to get the ball out to the inside center or outside center, past there the winger waits for the ball. Once someone gets tackled his teammates ruck over him so the ball doesn't get stolen. Play continues like this until someone scores a try "5 pts"(like a TD but you have to touch the ball to the ground) after a try a conversion "2 pts" is attempted. The ball is placed like 20 yards from the posts on a tee and is kicked through the posts. In most varieties there are 40 min halves. Some rules are you can't pass forwards, if there is a kick you can't run in front of the kicker, and there is offsides which is when in a ruck you have to be behind the feet of anyone in a ruck.

  11. rugby is close to football, but it has different rules. it tends to be more violent than football. players often find different ways to intercept the ball or keep it in play- there are strict rules like football

  12. no matter what they say, rugby is only similar to american football in the sense that it has rules that no-one can understand and that are very hard to police because of the confusion with interpretation of the rules. Confused? the idea is simple. 15 players on each team and they are trying to get to the try line at the other end of the 100 meter field. 1 problem, 15 other giants with the same thing in mind will do anything to stop u. Easy as. watch an all blacks game from new zealand and you will see what rugby is like in its best form.

  13. Rugby is pretty much football....but your playing with no pads what so ever..... I played it once, I probably won't play again unless I decide to exercise.... All the guys I was playing with were about 6 foot 250 lbs.... they can put a hurt on a person.

  14. Rugby is a game played by men with funny shaped balls

  15. rugby is a game played by usually large men and they play it with an odd shaped ball similar to the one used in American football there are two types of rugby, union which is played in most UK schools and is more popular in the south of England and usually watched by the public school type league is more prominent in the north of England and its classed as a professional  sport league is also very popular in Australia and newzeland

as for playing you would have to get some odd shaped balls to play

  16. There are 2 types of rugby- rugby league and rubgy union. It's football. A player scores a 'try' by putting the ball down on the other side of the line. You can score a goal by kicking the ball over the post. There is also touch football-the same as league but instead of tackling an opponent you tag them.
