What is safe/best route from portland, oregon to southern california?

plan to drive my car down to southern california. concern about the snow / ice conditions at ashland to yreaka.

any tips on good road route/ trip? i already checked the tripcheck from odot for the road condition. not good if plan to drive end of february?
