  1. yeah, I'd have to agree that nascar is safer.  I haven't seen anyone driving in nascar lose their legs when the front nose of the car gets ripped off and exposed their legs.  nascar has roll cages and the wheels/tires aren't as exposed as in indy.

  2. To me the open-wheel racing seems much more dangerous because the wheel is not protected. Just a hunch though.

  3. nascar has much better cars, much safer. plus they dont go as fast

  4. NASCAR, by far. The innovations that they have installed for the cars goes much further than anything open wheel has done. Plus there is more car in a full bodied stock car. And most importantly look at how the driver sits in an open wheel car. Many drivers break or lose legs because of the body position they are in.

  5. definatley nascar

not as fast and your head is under a roof

  6. i'd have to say indy cars are safer.  I realize that they appear very fragile and break apart easily in a collision, but that is the reason why it is safer.  i believe the indy cars do a better job of absorbing impact than the NASCAR stock cars.  The cars in nascar do give, but there sturdiness is because of roll bars which dont give as much and absorb as much energy as carbon fiber does.  This makes the driver absorb more of the energy upon impact, and on a heavy head on collision, there can be a higher risk of a life threatening injury.  Remember Kenny Bracks accident? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVpux5Jxq... it was recorded at over 200g forces and he still managed to survive because the car absorbed most of those g forces. And safety has been drastically improved since then. The indy cars are safer than they look
